East of England Co-op on the hunt for teams for charity 'Walking Football Tournament'

The East of England Co-op is encouraging people to walk, not run in its ‘Walking Football Tournament’, a new community fundraiser in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA).

The community fundraiser will take place at Haverhill Rovers Football Club in August and organisers are looking for teams to sign-up now to take part and help raise vital funds and awareness for the charity.

Commenting on the event, organiser Emily Liversidge, Funeral Co-ordinator at the Haverhill branch of the East of England Co-op Funeral Services, said “The East Anglian Air Ambulance receive no government funding at all and rely solely on donations from the public. I feel proud to be organising an event that supports such a worthy cause, as well as providing the local community with a fun family day out.”

Support for the tournament has been widespread, with UPS donating trophies and local companies also donating raffle prizes including tickets for the National Trust, Shepreth Wildlife Park, Curve Motion, Framlingham Castle, Anglia Indoor Karting and many more.

As well as the tournament and raffle, those attending will enjoy a bouncy castle and a variety of arts and crafts stalls. There will be refreshments and ice-cream available, and an East of England Air Ambulance stall will also be present.

The event will take place on Sunday 12 August 2018 from 1pm. Entries for the tournament cost £40 per team, each of which must consist of a minimum of six players and a maximum of eight. Participants must be aged 16 and over, and all-female as well as mixed teams are welcome. There are prizes for winning teams and limited spaces available.
