Duo of Silver Carbon Charter awards
Two of our Food stores have been awarded Silver status by the Suffolk Carbon Charter.
Rand’s Way Food store in Ipswich and Brightlingsea Food store achieved the award following their recent audits. The Carbon Charter is awarded to organisations that are working hard to monitor and reduce their carbon emissions. A Carbon Charter Silver level requires a team to contribute to a clear reduction in carbon emissions.
The inspectors noted that the team at Rands Way have successfully reduced wastage since their last visit, which in turn means that fewer collections are now required. The report also mentions that colleagues have got behind the Too Good To Go launch with enthusiasm, which has contributed to their Silver success.
The panel were impressed with the newly installed solar panels at Brightlingsea which generate 122,000 kWh per year avoiding approximately 32 tonnes of CO2e.
Big thanks to both the Rand’s Way and Brightlingsea teams for their support in helping us achieve these awards.
