New jobs created as the regional co-operative gets ready to open on Duke Street, a short walk from the station.

The East of England Co-op, which has helped more than 95,000 people through grants from its Community Cares Fund and made over 1,500 donations to good causes in East Anglia over the last three years, is expanding its Food business into Chelmsford this winter.

The regional co-operative is owned by its members and focuses on the local communities in the counties in which it operates. With over 125 Food stores across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, the East of England Co-op is independent of the national Co-op Group and other regional co-operatives.

Ahead of opening this winter, the East of England Co-op is on the look-out for Customer Service Assistants and Team Managers.

Doug Field OBE, Chief Executive Officer at the East of England Co-op said:

“We’re proud to be opening our first Chelmsford Food store. This growing city, with its welcoming and dynamic community is an exciting place for us to be building a presence in, and we look forward to being an active part of the local area.

“As a rapidly expanding and purpose-led business, we’re looking for people who share our passion for delivering exceptional levels of customer service to join our Chelmsford team in what will be a busy store opposite the station.

“This is an exciting time to join our growing organisation. Our Chelmsford Food store will be our third to open since August, with more on the horizon in the near future”.

Applications for roles at the store close on 1 December 2023.
