The Newmarket community enjoyed a special masquerade ball at the weekend, raising vital funds for the Injured Jockeys Fund charity.

Organised by the East of England Co-op Funeral Services, the ball took place on Saturday 9th June 2018 at The Racing Centre in Newmarket and raised an impressive £2,140 for the charity, which provides support to injured jockeys both past and present. The ball proved popular with locals, selling out with over 100 people in attendance.

Sara Vail, Funeral Co-ordinator at the East of England Co-op Funeral Services Newmarket said: “We were overwhelmed with positive feedback from guests who said they had a wonderful time – one even exclaimed she had never danced so much in one night! People are already asking if the East of England Co-op Funeral Services will be hosting a similar event again next year.”

Sara added: “I would like to thank The Racing Centre and Cambridge Samosa Company for producing such excellent food and service, both of which helped contribute to a wonderful evening.”

The event lived up to its promise of a night full of entertainment and glamour all in aid of a good cause. As well as the ball itself, there was live music, magic, fine Indian dining and a raffle with a selection of prizes donated by local businesses including Cambridge Escape Rooms, Snailriver Horse Drawn Carriage Company, Travis Perkins and many more.

Established in 1964, the Injured Jockeys Fund provides care, compassion and financial help, to more than a thousand injured jockeys past and present, paying out over £18 million in charitable assistance.
