Gold award for Acle supermarket
Our supermarket in Acle, Norfolk has achieved Gold status from the Norfolk Carbon Charter.
The Carbon Charter is awarded to organisations that are working hard to monitor and reduce their carbon emissions. A Carbon Charter Gold Level means that the store has demonstrated significant reductions in their carbon emissions and are championing the environmental agenda.
The inspectors were particularly pleased to see a reduction in grid energy consumption, thanks to the recently installed solar panels. Our colleagues in-store have also been working hard to minimise delivery vehicle mileage and reduce wastage, as well as ensuring that as much as possible is recycled.
Steven Fendley, Head of sustainability at East of England Co-op said: “This is a well-deserved recognition for the team at our Acle Food store who have worked hard to minimise carbon emissions at work.
The East of England Co-op is 100% committed to reducing our carbon footprint, and we have been looking at every part of our business operation to find cleaner, more sustainable ways to operate. We recently announced ambitious plans to be carbon neutral by 2030”.
