East of England Co-op raising money to help fund vital work of local charities across East Anglia
As part of the retailer’s Local Giving programme, colleagues at 189 East of England Co-op Food stores, Forecourts, Funeral Services and Travel branches across East Anglia have chosen a local charity that is important to their community to fundraise for this summer. Any money raised will go directly to their chosen charity, alongside a £150 donation from the retailer themselves.
Angela Carpenter, Community Support Lead for the East of England Co-op said: ‘Our colleagues are at the heart of our communities, and they have a unique perspective on what’s important to people in their local areas. Local Giving is all about raising funds for local organisations that are making a difference to people’s lives and raising awareness of the work they do so that our community can benefit from them.
‘We're proud and excited to be launching our Local Giving summer round of fundraising and I can’t wait to see the difference we can make.’
Since the East of England Co-op’s Local Giving Programme launched a year ago, over £120,000 has been donated to local charities across East Anglia. Each summer and winter, colleagues in local stores and branches choose the organisation they want to support and spend three months fundraising for them.
You can pop into your local East of England Co-op to find out which charity they’re raising money for and why this summer or check online here. Stores and branches will have collection pots and the option to donate at the till. They will also be taking part in a range of fundraising activities such as fancy dress and second-hand book sales.
