With an experienced team and a diverse range of products, The Taste of Suffolk produce smoked meats using a time-honoured, natural oak smoking technique that has remained unchanged for many years. They pride themselves on creating the best quality product with no room for compromise.

What makes the perfect pigs in blankets?

Christmas is but once a year, so it’s important that you go all out on the ultimate of side dishes.

Delicious chipolata sausages wrapped in sumptuous East Anglian local bacon.  These are a Christmas favourite that never get left uneaten so make sure you have plenty available.

The Taste of Suffolk pigs in blankets are made from a selection of the tastiest herbs and spices and wrapped in delicious streaky bacon produced from the finest locally sourced pork.

What completes your Christmas day roast?

There’s something very comforting about seeing a traditional Christmas Day Roast. Enjoyed throughout the land on thousands of dinner plates.

Everyone has a favourite item, whether it’s the crispy roasted potatoes, the perfect turkey, maybe honey glazed carrots or perhaps simply a glorious gravy. Some may even favour the traditional brussels sprouts.

But for us let’s not forget the stuffing – made from a delicious combination of Pork, Sage and Onion and with the option of being wrapped in our sumptuous streaky bacon just adds that extra feeling of luxury and seasoning to bring out the full flavour of the turkey.

What have been the highlights from your partnership with the East of England Co-op this year?

The Co-op puts the community and local business at the heart of their organisation and we love being a part of that extended family. Local produce from local farmers to local stores is the perfect route to consistent high quality products.

We strive to continually improve and working with the Co-op means that we have a strong, friendly partnership that gives us confidence to invest in our people and premises

The accolade of being awarded “Producer of the Year” for 2021 was incredibly humbling but at the same time very uplifting knowing that the voting was from customers of the stores throughout the region who clearly appreciate our quality approach.

What does 2022 hold for Taste of Suffolk?

We are in the process of completing a large extension to our Bury St Edmunds factory.  Once that is commissioned we can re-organise our bacon production area and install our newly purchased production equipment.

This has been a big investment in the future of the business and the staff are very excited at the prospect of the improvement in technology.

We’re looking forward to a bright future and a continued great working relationship with the Co-op

What steps are Taste of Suffolk taking for a more sustainable future?

For food safety reasons the factory must be kept chilled at all times so we have invested heavily in new low energy refrigeration units to improve our carbon footprint

The new extension will improve the insulation qualities of the site and meet the highest current building standards.

We work closely with local suppliers for local produce and keep food miles to a minimum.

A number of our staff car share and we encourage as many as possible to travel to work by cycle.
