The store, which is ideally positioned to benefit Cambridge North commuters as well as local businesses at the growing One Cambridge Square development, offers hot and cold food to go, a Costa coffee machine, an in-store bakery and a wide selection of fresh and frozen food. Customers will also benefit from DPD and in-post parcel services as well as online delivery, which will be launching shortly.

Branch Manager, Damian Johnson said: “Opening our second Cambridgeshire food store this year, and our first one in the city is an exciting moment for us as a business. As branch manager at the Waterbeach store, which opened in August, we’ve already seen huge success there.

“It’s been great to meet with customers today, many of whom are commuters at the nearby Cambridge North station. Being able to offer fantastic convenience like breakfast on the go, the opportunity to grab a meal deal for lunch and fresh and frozen food for dinner, is brilliant and we hope that a visit to the store will become a regular part of their commute.”

The East of England co-operative is owned by its members and focuses on the local communities in the counties in which it operates. With over 125 Food stores across Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and now Cambridgeshire, the East of England Co-op is independent of the national Co-op Group and other regional co-operatives.

The East of England Co-op has helped more than 95,000 people through grants from its Community Cares Fund and made over 1,500 donations to good causes in East Anglia over the last three years. The opening of the retailer’s first Cambridgeshire food stores means that Cambridgeshire charities and organisations will be able to apply for grants through the East of England Co-op’s Community Cares Fund for the first time. You can find out more about the funding and how to apply here. The application deadline is 4 December 2023.
