Slimy Apple Monsters
Spooky Scale: 4/5 Spooks
Serves: 4 (makes 8–10 bites)
Prep Time: 10 minutes
No cooking required
Ingredients:
- 2 x Co-op red or green apples
- Co-op Smooth Peanut Butter (or Biscoff spread for a nut-free version)
- A handful of Co-op Home Baking Pink & White Marshmallows
- 1–2 Co-op or Sourced Locally strawberries, thinly sliced
Instructions:
Prepare the apple mouths:
Slice each apple into wedges — around 8 per apple. Try to make them roughly the same size so they match up when paired.
Spread the filling:
Take one apple slice and spread a layer of peanut butter or Biscoff on one side.
Add the teeth:
Press mini marshmallows along the spread edge to resemble teeth.
Create the tongue:
Cut a thin slice of strawberry and position it between the marshmallows for a lolling monster tongue.
Top it off:
Press a second apple wedge on top to complete the monster mouth. Gently squeeze together.
Tips & Serving Ideas:
- Serve immediately to prevent the apples from browning. If needed, brush the slices lightly with lemon juice to keep them fresh.
- Let kids assemble their own monsters - it’s a fun, hands-on Halloween snack they’ll love.
- Get creative: Use edible eyes, chocolate chips, or raisins to give your monsters faces!
