Boo-nana Ghosts
Spooky Scale: 2/5 Spooks
Serves: 4 (makes 8 ghosts)
Difficulty: Very easy
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Chill Time: 15–20 minutes
Total Time: Around 30 minutes
Ingredients:
- 4 x Co-op Fairtrade bananas
- 200g White Chocolate, broken into chunks
- 50g Milk Chocolate, broken into chunks or Co-op Milk Chocolate Chips 100g
- Baking paper
- Wooden kebab sticks
Instructions:
Prepare the bananas:
Peel the bananas and slice each one in half. Stand them upright on a plate or tray with the flat (cut) side facing down.
Melt the white chocolate:
Place the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of gently simmering water. Stir occasionally until fully melted and smooth. (Alternatively, microwave in short bursts, stirring between each.)
Coat the bananas:
Spoon or pour the melted white chocolate over each banana half to cover it completely. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Make the ghost faces:
Melt the milk chocolate using the same method. Use a toothpick, piping bag, or the tip of a small spoon to add two eyes and a spooky mouth on each ghost. You can also use milk chocolate chips for the faces instead of the melted chocolate.
Chill to set:
Transfer the tray to the fridge for 15–20 minutes until the chocolate coating is firm.
Tips & Ideas:
- Serve chilled for a cool, creamy Halloween treat.
- Get the kids involved decorating their own ghosts - no two need to be the same!
- For an extra spooky touch, stick edible googly eyes onto the ghosts before the chocolate sets.
