East of England Co-op works with iSqueeze and Smoodi to launch the UK’s first ever self-serving smoothie machine
On Wednesday 21 October, East of England Co-op collaborated with iSqueeze to launch the award-winning US drink product Smoodi.
The release of the self-serving, robotic smoothie machine provides the opportunity for customers to enjoy fresh smoothies, made from all natural ingredients at an efficient pace.
Opening in the East of England Co-op’s Chelmsford store, Smoodi is the first of its kind available in the UK. Using its state-of-the-art automation technology, the Smoodi station creates freshly prepared smoothies, served in 60 seconds without the use of blenders, ice and constant cleaning.
Smoodi offers a wide selection of healthy flavour options to East of England Co-op customers, all of which are vegan friendly and nut or allergen free. These flavours include Strawberry & Banana, Tropical, Green Matcha, Mango Lassi, Very Berry and Choco Boost.
Improving services that enhance convenience for our customers is at the centre of importance for the East of England Co-op. This collaboration with iSqueeze, the UK’s largest provider of fresh juice machines, has provided the opportunity to refine food-to go services whilst encouraging healthy choices within the community.
The interactive in-store experience is seamless, with customers placing a 400ml cup on the smoothie station, waiting seconds for the machine to blend the frozen fruit with water, creating a drink that’s instantly ready to enjoy.
Chief Commercial Officer for East of England Co-op, Simon Dryell, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with both iSqueeze and Smoodi. At the East of England Co-op, product innovation has always been a core priority for us. So, it’s great to be able to invest in a system that directly benefits the community when it comes to both convenience and healthy eating. We look forward to seeing how Smoodi grows within our Food stores in the future.”
Managing Director for iSqueeze, Elias Ebert, said: ‘‘We identified a huge gap in the market for freshly made smoothies, ready in seconds, created by Co-op customers themselves using the latest self-service technology. This is the future of smoothies on the-go, empowering healthy habits for consumers.
As a member owned business, the East of England Co-op is investing for long-term impact through product innovation and collaboration that directly serves and positively impacts the community, while building a strong future as an independent and sustainable retailer.
