East of England Co-op shortlisted for two awards at the Retail Industry Awards 2025
East of England Co-op has been shortlisted for two awards at the upcoming prestigious Retail Industry Awards, recognising its innovation in technology and its continued commitment to supporting local communities.
The retailer is a finalist in the Best Use of Technology – Multiple category for its pioneering work with Retail Insight, using cutting-edge AI to reduce food waste across its food business. This forward-thinking initiative has already helped to save an incredible 1.8 million meals from going to landfill, supporting the businesses sustainability goals.
In addition, East of England Co-op has also been shortlisted for Community Retailer of the Year – Multiple celebrating its commitment to the communities it serves. In 2024, the regional co-op established its four core community programmes; Community Cares Fund grants, Local Giving, Small Donations and In-branch Hosting. This led to the co-op supporting over 700 community groups and local charities on 960 occasions.
Andy Rigby, Chief Executive Officer for the East of England Co-op said: “We’re incredibly proud to be recognised in two categories that reflect what we stand for as a co-op, innovation that makes a difference, and community at our core. Being shortlisted is a testament to the passion and hard work of our colleagues, partners and members.”
The Retail Industry Awards 2025 will take place in September this year at the Royal Lancaster, London, celebrating excellence across the UK’s retail sector.
