Thanks to Ipswich Borough Council and the Government's Towns Fund and Shop Grant Scheme, a shopping precinct at Henley Rise in Ipswich has benefited from £50,000 worth of rejuvenation works.
Owned by the East of England Co-op, which operates a Food store on the site, the space is also shared with a hairdresser, a bakers, Launderette, Post Office, Pharmacy and Fish & Chip Shop.
Stuart McDonald, Chief Property Officer at the East of England Co-op, said: “Thanks to the incredible support from Ipswich Borough Council and the Towns Fund and Shop Grant Scheme, we’ve been able to invest a fantastic £50,000 into our Henley Rise shopping precinct. This renovation is not just about our Food store, it’s enabled us to rejuvenate the entire area for our tenants and visitors too.”
Ipswich Borough Council were awarded £2.4m as part of the Government’s Towns Fund to improve local shopping parades in Ipswich, with the aim of encouraging more people to visit and benefit the economy, to boost economic productivity and support sustainable growth.
Works carried out at Henley Rise, by local contractors Ashford Wright, include freshly painted storefronts, new street furniture, improvements to the car park and landscaping.
Councillor Neil MacDonald, Leader, Ipswich Borough Council, said: "The transformation of Henley Rise shopping parade is a fantastic example of what can be achieved when local authorities, businesses, and government funding work hand in hand. This investment not only enhances the space for businesses but also creates a more welcoming environment for residents and visitors. It’s a boost for our local economy and a step towards creating sustainable, thriving communities in Ipswich."
