East of England Co-op Funeral Services future-proofs funeral operations with eFD system rollout
East of England Co-op Funeral Services has completed a major digital upgrade across its funeral operations with the rollout of eFD, a leading funeral management system designed to enhance efficiency and sustainability, while positioning the regional co-operative ready for any legislative changes.
The project marks the start of a wider move towards digitising the funeral arrangement process. The new platform now serves as the operational hub of the business, managing everything from client arrangements, payments, stock and service pricing to diary management, fleet coordination, document storage and client communication.
Joe Tull, Head of Funeral Operations at the East of England Co-op, said: “Our role is to provide families with the very best care at a difficult time, and this new system helps us do that even better. eFD makes everyday tasks simpler and more accurate, giving our colleagues more time to focus on people rather than paperwork. It’s another way we’re investing in the professionalism and care that our communities have come to expect from us.”
With ongoing discussions around extending Scotland’s deceased tracking and management legislation into England, the introduction of eFD further supports the work East of England Co-op Funeral Services have been doing over the last four years to ensure that we are leading the way in a fully regulated funeral industry.
The rollout of eFD replaces a wide range of manual, paper-based tasks with streamlined digital processes. This transformation not only improves accuracy and speed but also supports the wider East of England Co-op’s sustainability focus by significantly reducing paper use across its branches and administrative teams.
Rob Smith, Technology Officer at the East of England Co-op, said: “Introducing eFD is about giving our teams the right tools to do their jobs with confidence and care. It marks the next step in our journey into a digital age, building on more than 100 years of experience supporting families across the East of England. We’re proud to combine modern, sustainable ways of working with the same compassion, professionalism and dedication that have always been at the heart of our service.”
East of England Co-op Funeral Services partnered with Seker, the technology provider behind eFD, to deliver the project from design through to the full rollout across its funeral estate.
Andrew Humphrey, Project Manager at Seker, said “It’s been a privilege to work with the East of England Co-op Funeral Services team on this transformation. Their dedication to improving operations while continuing to care deeply for the families they serve has been inspiring. Together, we’ve shown how the right technology can enhance both efficiency and compassion.”
Dan Blackett, Business Development Manager at Seker, added “It’s been a pleasure to be part of the tender process. From day one their team set a clear vision for what they wanted to achieve, and eFD proved to be the best fit — combining compliance, efficiency, and care in one solution.”
