John is the fourth generation of his family to be involved with our co-op, starting with his great grandfather, a baker who worked for the Norwich Co-operative Society over 100 years ago. John started his working life in retail, but his diverse career has seen him work in banking, pensions, VAT and insolvency. More recently he has worked in member-led organisations, currently with the Co-operative Party. Outside of his work in the co-operative movement, John is a local councillor and enjoys spending spare time with his granddaughters. Prior to his election to the Board in 2025, he served as a Director of the East of England Co-op from 2012 to 2024.
