Spooky Boo-nana Pops
Spooky Scale: 1/5 Spooks
Super easy and cute, this is probably the easiest and healthiest ghost you'll ever meet! It's a fantastic way to turn a simple piece of fruit into a delightful spooky snack that kids love.
Ingredients:
- 3 large bananas, ripe but still firm
- 100g white chocolate (or Greek yoghurt for an even healthier version)
- A small handful of mini chocolate chips or a tube of black writing icing
- 6 lolly sticks or sturdy paper straws
The Healthier Twist:
This recipe's primary ingredient is fruit! Using Greek yoghurt instead of white chocolate cuts down on sugar significantly and adds a boost of protein and calcium.
Instructions:
Prep the Bananas: Peel the bananas and cut them in half crosswise. Gently push a lolly stick into the cut end of each banana half, about halfway up.
Freeze: Place the banana pops on a tray lined with baking paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps the coating set instantly.
Melt & Dip: Just before you take the bananas out of the freezer, melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second bursts, stirring in between. If using yoghurt, just have it ready in a bowl.
Create the Ghosts: Dip the frozen bananas into the melted white chocolate or yoghurt, using a spoon to coat them fully. The coating should set very quickly on the cold banana.
Add a Face: Before the coating is completely solid, press two mini chocolate chips in for the eyes and one for a spooky "O" mouth. If using writing icing, let the coating set fully first, then draw the faces on.
Serve: Serve immediately, or place them back on the baking tray in the freezer until you're ready to scare... I mean, share!
