Cambridge North Station retailer announced
It has today been announced that the East of England Co-op are to take up the retail unit at Cambridge North Station.
The £50million rail project, which opened earlier this year, is located close to the Cambridge Science Park with three platforms servicing routes to London King's Cross, London Liverpool Street, Ely and Norwich. Currently over 11,000 passengers are passing through the station each week.
The opening of the new store, which will be the first East of England Co-op food store in Cambridgeshire, will create 10 new jobs which are currently being advertised here.
Roger Grosvenor, Joint Chief Executive for the East of England Co-op, said:
“The opening of our first food store in Cambridgeshire is an iconic moment in our history, having been serving local communities across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex for almost 150 years.
“Cambridge North Station is a fantastic facility. As a brand new retail unit we will be seeking a new store manager and team to provide customers with a quality, friendly service.”
The East of England Co-op is the largest independent retailer in East Anglia with over 200 stores across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire. They operate a wide range of businesses, including food retail, funeral services, travel, pharmacy, opticians and investment property.
Andy Camp, Greater Anglia Commercial Director, said: "We're delighted that the Co-op is coming to Cambridge North. Customers have been eager for us to open a shop at the station and we're happy to be making their lives a little easier by opening this store."
