Getting hands on to make a difference
Youth hubs across our region are supporting hundreds of young people by giving them a safe place to be themselves, hang out with their friends or just have some down time.
One of our members told us about one such service in Felixstowe. Level Two supports over 650 young people every year. On their recommendation, we contacted the hub and asked if there was anything we could do to help.
We were tasked with giving a much-needed makeover for one of their rooms, which is used by the young people as a hang-out space, a place for mentoring and to spend time with a trusted adult to off-load their concerns and worries.
So, up for the challenge, members of our Community Engagement team, colleagues from our Community Events team and Building Services team got stuck in, prepping walls, painting, putting up new blinds and filling the room with new furniture and equipment. The makeover was overseen by local contractors BellCorp Ltd who kindly donated their much-needed skills and supervision.
