Wilf - Funeral Operative

Tell us a little about yourself. 

I have been working for the East of England Co-op Funeral Service for around 11 years; before then, I had never been in the industry, so I was very nervous about what the role would entail; I quickly found it to be excellent. With many of my worries being unfounded! 

What do you love most about your job? 

It's got to be the preparing and driving the hearses; I enjoy making sure that they are perfect for our families and making sure everything on the day of the funeral goes to plan for our families. 

What is it like working at the Co-op? 

It's excellent working for the Co-op; they allow me the flexibility within my role to do hours that suit my life. It's also great to be part of a bigger team; everyone works together to provide the best for our families. 

What advice would you give to someone looking for a career in the funeral industry? 

 Give it a go; you will be so surprised how rewarding it can be!
