We’re here to make choosing a funeral plan as simple and trouble-free for you as possible

We have answered our most commonly asked questions but if you have any questions at all please. Contact our friendly team at any time on 0800 0744361.

  • Am I eligible for a funeral plan?

Yes! There are no restrictions on taking out a funeral plan, and we guarantee we will accept you – no matter what your age or state of health.

  • Will my family have to pay anything extra towards my funeral?

No, all costs are paid for by your plan. However, if your family or loved ones wish to purchase additional services such as floral tributes at the time of need they are welcome to do so (please note that some services may not be available if you have chosen the Knight Plan).

If you have chosen The Constable Plan your family will have to pay burial or cremation costs and ‘disbursements’ – third party fees to doctors, clergy (or officiants), gravediggers and organists where appropriate.

  • Can I change my mind?

Yes. If you cancel your plan within 30 days, we will refund all your payments. If you withdraw after this time, we may charge a cancellation charge of £200.

  • Can I change my arrangements?

Yes, you can upgrade to another plan at any time by requesting and paying for any additional services you require.

  • What happens if I move out of the area?

If you move away from our trading area of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex we will appoint another quality Funeral Director at no extra cost, usually from another Co-operative Society. Alternatively, we can return you to a Chapel of Rest in our area for an additional charge.

Your funeral plan covers the cost of a funeral within mainland Britain. If you move overseas, we advise you take out insurance to cover the costs of repatriation.

  • What happens if I die before I have paid all my funeral plan instalments?

If this happens, your family or executors have two options. They can either settle the outstanding payments – allowing your funeral to go ahead as planned, at the overall price you reserved when you took out your plan, this is normally the most economical option. Alternatively, we can cancel your plan and refund your premiums less the administration fee of £200.

  • Is my money safe?

Yes. Your funeral plan will be underwritten by The Royal London Group (RLG), a mutual that has served its members since 1861. All funeral plan monies paid to the East of England  Co-operative Society will be invested in individual whole of life insurance policies between the East of England Co-operative Society and the Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Limited. The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Limited is authorised by the Prudential

Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority.
