FareShare What are the East of England Co-op doing about single use plastic? You will know that large retailers are now required by law to charge for single-use plastic carrier bags. We’ve taken this one step further, with all of our bags now designed to be reused for multiple trips or to be compostable. Reducing waste by charging for single-use carrier bags isn’t new for us. In fact, back in 2008 we were one of the first retailers to do so. We are also no longer selling any single-use, disposable carrier bags*. All the bags available at your local Co-op, with the exception of our compostable bag, are now designed to be reused for multiple trips.
