It is mandatory to wear a face covering (unless exempt) in all Food stores, Supermarkets, Funeral branches and other retail spaces.

As well as wearing a face covering (unless exempt), we please ask those visiting our stores and branches to continue to follow guidelines, including:

🤒 Please do not visit our stores and branches if you have any symptoms of Coronavirus

🚶‍♀️ Please visit our Food stores alone where possible (a maximum of two people of the same household/bubble may attend a funeral arrangement)

👨‍👦‍👦 Closely supervise children at all times

📏 Keep your distance from others

🧼 Continue good hand hygiene practices

🔢 Please wait outside all stores and branches before entering, if required, as we continue to manage the number of customers in our stores and branches

The government has highlighted a number of circumstances where shoppers are not required to wear a face covering. A list of these exemptions can be found here

We ask all our members and customers to continue to be kind and considerate to others, and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Our commitment to being a Covid Secure Business

To ensure the safety of our customer and colleagues, we are committed to being a Covid Secure business. Therefore we have undertaken Risk Assessments on our operations and as a result have introduced a number of Covid control measures including:

  • Installing screens at our till points
  • Limiting the number of customers in our branches when necessary
  • Applying social distancing through the use of signs and floor markings
  • Enhancing our in-branch cleaning regimes with a particular focus on those areas or pieces of equipment that are touched most frequently
  • Where necessary, temporarily restricting access to areas of our branches whilst filling our shelves
  • Making face coverings available to our colleagues
  • Encouraging customers to shop alone where possible and in a cashless and contactless way to prevent unnecessary contact

Please remember our colleagues are here to help you.

We will not tolerate abuse or anti-social behaviour in our stores.

  • Online shopping & home deliveries

We are not currently in a position to provide online shopping, an expanded home delivery service, or accept payment for goods over the phone.

  • Special shopping sessions

We have no plans at the moment to alter our opening hours or offer special shopping sessions for particular groups of people. We want to keep our stores open and accessible to everyone as they prepare for the coming weeks and months.

  • Stock levels

Whilst the situation is currently under review, at this time we have no purchasing restrictions in place. We please ask that visitors to our stores only buy what they need. There's plenty for everyone and we continue to receive regular deliveries. As a community retailer, many older and vulnerable people rely on our services, so please help us to help them.

Supporting our colleagues

We're doing everything we can to support our colleagues

🛑 Social distancing

We've introduced a series of measures to help us adhere to government guidance on social distancing:

🚧 Installing screens at every till

📄 Reminders in-store to keep your distance

✋🏻 Restricting the number of people who can enter our stores

🛑 We might temporarily close stores when we get a delivery

🤝🏻 Growing our team

We're continuing to recruit temporary and permanent members of our team on a daily basis to help support our teams in Food.

You can find the latest roles here.

We've also reassigned as many colleagues as we can to our food stores to help keep our stores stocked, staffed and open as much as possible.

❤ A huge thank you to our team

Colleagues across our business are working around the clock to keep our branches stocked, staffed and open.

They're working around the clock on the front line and in our support services to help all of our businesses during this challenging time.

We've had lots of customers contact us with messages of praise, and have shared some incredible stories of how our team are going above and beyond. Please keep sharing these - we're passing on as many as we can.

Supporting our communities

How we're helping support those who need it most

The Coronavirus outbreak is the most significant challenge our community has faced for generations.

We're proud to be at the heart of our local community, and we want to do as much as we can to help those who need it most.

That’s why we've taken the decision to pause our usual programme of community support so we can introduce some emergency support for our community.
