Celebration of Life

As much as a funeral marks someone’s passing, it is also a celebration of their life. At East of England Co-operative we can create a personalised funeral that is as unique and as special as the deceased. Many people who come to us either to arrange their own funeral or that of a loved one are surprised to know that almost anything is possible when it comes to a funeral service.

From horse drawn hearses with all the hallmarks of a traditional funeral, to more flamboyant ceremonies with unusual dress-codes and songs that relate to the person’s hobbies or character – almost anything is possible. Our funeral directors feel honoured to help create a ceremony that appropriately celebrates the life of the deceased. Even if you have something especially unusual in mind, we will do our very best to carry out your wishes.

• Music – pop and rock songs, show tunes, classics and TV themes are all now played at funeral services.  If there was a song special to your loved one, we can arrange for it to be played during the service.

• Clothing – you may feel it appropriate for those attending the service to wear non-traditional clothes for the funeral service.  Bright clothing or a clothing theme can be requested. For example, for one particular service of a young man who was a keen football fan, the family requested that friends who owned football shirts wore them at the service.

• Transport – the traditional hearse can now be supplemented or replaced by a variety of options – for example a white hearse is available. Horse-drawn vehicles, motorcycle hearses, a Land Rover and numerous other options are also available.

• Something special – we are often only limited by your imagination. In recent times we have organised funerals featuring jazz bands and bagpipers – and have organised services where each person attending was handed a balloon to be released during the burial. Whatever you have in mind, we will do our very best to make it a reality.

Whether you are carrying out the wishes of a deceased loved one, or are pre-arranging your own ceremony, we will be on hand to organise, guide and advise – whatever your plans.
