The place of burial is the first decision you will need to make. Options such as local borough or parish cemetery, churchyard or woodland burial sites will need to be considered. Many people take comfort from placing belongings such as photographs, letters and other personal effects in the coffin with their loved one. With burial there are fewer restrictions about possessions, clothing and decoration than there are with cremation.
You will also need to decide whether you wish to utilise an existing family burial plot that has room for a further interment, or to purchase a new grave. Your funeral director will be able to offer all necessary advice on types of grave such as; lawn; traditional and public graves.
