To that end, we encourage our local suppliers and producers across Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex to apply for the Suffolk Carbon Charter.

A number of our stores and local producers have already applied and been awarded Suffolk Carbon Charter accreditation - read their case studies to find out more. We offer practical and financial support for our local suppliers and producers to apply for accreditation.

What is the Suffolk Carbon Charter?

The Suffolk Carbon Charter is an award presented to recognise the steps taken by small and medium local businesses to reduce their carbon emissions and support the local environment.

What do I have to do?

The process is very straightforward, and specifically designed to be attainable for small, local businesses.

Once you've registered your interest in applying, you'll be asked to complete a simple application form. Your business will then be subject to an independent assessment by qualified auditors - not as scary as it sounds!

If successful, you'll be accredited with one of three Charter levels; bronze, silver or gold. This award runs for two years, at which point businesess can apply for reaccreditation.

You can find out more about the different levels and the accreditation criteria on the Suffolk Carbon Charter website

How are the East of England Co-op involved?

We're a Suffolk Carbon Charter Pathfinder Partner. This means that we support local businesses and producers to apply for the award, both practically and in certain cirumstances, financially. We work closely with Suffolk County Council and the Environment Agency who run the Charter as part of the Creating the Greenest County partnership.

Why should I apply?

There are a number of benefits to receiving Suffolk Carbon Charter accreditation. Not only does it provide you with a formal, recognisable recognition for your achievements, but it can help raise your profile as business in the local community and assist you in finding ways to reduce your energy costs.
