Membership and Democracy

Membership is what sets us apart, and makes us very different from other businesses.  As a member you are a part owner of your local co-op, and our profits are shared with you, our members, in proportion to your use of our shops and services; not city shareholders in proportion to the amount of capital they invest.

All members get an equal say in how your local co-op is run.  Our Board of Directors  is elected from our membership and by our membership at our Annual General Meeting.

For more information on how to become a member of the East of England Co-operative Society, the benefits of being a member, and the work we do with our membership visit our Member and Community section.
