Cardboard and Plastic Recycling

Cardboard

We recycle more than 50% of our waste, the bulk of which is plastic and cardboard packaging, through our Distribution Centre in Boss Hall, Ipswich.

In 2008 we invested in a state-of-the-art loose plastic processing system, which helps us to recycle more than three tonnes of plastic every week.

Grocery orders for our food stores and supermarkets are picked and transported on roll cages, which are shrink-wrapped for safety and security. Once the order is unpacked, the plastic and packaging is returned to the Distribution Centre on the next delivery lorry, ready to be recycled.

Thousands of tonnes of plastic and cardboard are collected, baled and recycled by the Society, saving a vast amount of waste from going to landfill.
